Prices have continued to skyrocket along the Ecuadorean coast so it isn’t often you find this size of land at prices that in reality are 2 or 3 years old in our opinion. This could easily just be a buy-and-flip type investment but we like to see it as being more than that in the big picture. The second thing we like is the size and orientation of this property. It’s 185 meters (600+ ft) along the beach road with 3 points of public beach access directly across the street and a glorious aqua ocean only 80 meters away approx. This is one of two properties we are flagging as “major opportunity” investment. We’ve run the numbers ourselves on what’s possible with this property and we love what we came away with. It has an ocean view panorama that can’t be beat putting the homes up high enough to have a view right out to the ocean.
Our approach to this property would be to split this lot into 6 – 8 separate lots all facing the beach. Put them on the market at a markup and just sit back and relax as they sell over time. Considering what our bank offers us for a CD these days and the recent volatility of the market, we love the idea of having something we can touch physically and that people just keep wanting more of. If Ecuador gets another vote for being the best place to retire again in 2017, man oh man!

Cayo offers a small town community sense of safety and lets you be about as busy as you choose to. We have a small local grocery store, an abundant fresh produce market and numerous restaurants. Cayo does have a 24/7 medical clinic for anything typical. All in all, anything you need is offered locally. If for some reason you find something specific you need that is not available, it's a gorgeous and quick drive up the coast to Manta.
